This a a huge area of rushing rivers and empty forests. A very historic area, this is Ontario's first explored coastline, the backyard of the Hudsons Bay Company and its intrepid explorers, and graveyard of many would-be discoverers. Unfortunately Ontario's only ocean coast is also remote, roadless, and has few support services. Apparently the river running, hunting and fishing are beyond compare. The potential scuba diving is certainly intriguing and is definitely on my wish list. However, there are no dive shops within hundreds of miles of this region, and so the potential may remain unexplored.

But...there is a regular rail service to Moosonee on the shores of James Bay and Tidewater Provincial Park. So an intrepid explorer could pack in downtown Toronto and make a 2-4 day exploratory trip quite easily. However you are a long way from a hospital capable of treating DCS.
